This itinerary combines the discovery of Chemtou’s rich archaeological heritage with the preserved nature of El Feija National Park on a two-day getaway from Tunis.

Day 1: Tunis – Dougga – Chemtou

Morning:

  • Departure from Tunis: Head towards Dougga (approx. 2.5-hour drive).
  • Visit of Dougga: Explore one of Tunisia’s finest archaeological sites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch: En route or near the site.
  • Arrival in Chemtou: Visit the Chemtou archaeological museum.
  • Climb the marble hill: Hike up to the marabout overlooking the ancient site.

Evening:

  • Dinner: In a local restaurant in Jendouba.
  • Overnight: Accommodation in the Jendouba region or nearby Chemtou.

Day 2: Chemtou – El Feija National Park – Tunis

Morning:

  • Breakfast: At your accommodation.
  • Departure for El Feija National Park: Located 50 km west of Jendouba (approx. 1-hour drive).

Activities in the park:

  • Hiking: Follow marked trails through oak and pine forests, with lush scenery and rich biodiversity (duration: 5–6 hours – moderate level).
  • Wildlife observation: You may spot Barbary deer in the clearings early in the morning or at sunset.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch: Picnic in the park or eat at a nearby local restaurant.
  • Return to Tunis: Depart in the afternoon, expected arrival in the early evening.
