This itinerary allows you to explore the rich cultural heritage of Le Kef and the natural beauty of El Feija National Park on a two-day getaway from Tunis.

Day 1: Tunis – Le Kef

Morning:

  • Departure from Tunis: Plan an early departure to reach Le Kef, located about 175 km from Tunis (approx. 2.5-hour drive).
  • Arrival in Le Kef: Check-in at your accommodation upon arrival.

Afternoon:

  • Visit of Le Kef:
    • Kasbah of Le Kef: Explore this Ottoman fortress offering panoramic views over the city and surrounding landscapes.
    • Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions: Discover regional cultural heritage through exhibitions of traditional objects.
    • Saint Peter’s Basilica: Visit this former Byzantine church reflecting the city’s historical diversity.

Evening:

  • Dinner: Enjoy local dishes in a traditional restaurant.
  • Overnight: Return to your accommodation in Le Kef.

Day 2: Le Kef – El Feija National Park – Tunis

Morning:

  • Breakfast: Taken at your accommodation.
  • Departure for El Feija National Park: Located about 90 km from Le Kef (approx. 1.5-hour drive), the park is known for its dense forest and diverse wildlife, especially the Barbary deer.
  • Activities in the park:
    • Hiking: Follow the marked trails through forests of cork oak and zean oak, for about 5 to 6 hours. Moderate level.
    • Note: It is advisable to start the hike early to make the most of the day.
    • Wildlife observation: With some luck, you may spot Barbary deer — an iconic species of the park.
    • Visit to Kef Negcha: A massive rock formation accessible via a staircase carved into the stone, offering a stunning view over the park.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch: Picnic in the park or at a nearby eco-lodge.
  • Return to Tunis: Departure in the afternoon for a return trip to the capital, expected arrival by early evening.
